[1] Lâallegato non è presente nel faldone della corrispondenza. Nellâarchivio privato di Primo Levi (PLPA) non sono state ritrovate lettere tra i due prima del 1972. La corrispondenza fino al 1972 è dunque ricostruita grazie al fondo Hermann Langbein (Depot Langbein, E/ 1797) conservato presso lâĂsterreichisches Staatsarchiv di Vienna (OESTA), dove gli allegati inviati da Langbein non sono conservati insieme al carteggio (faldone 101 Italien), ma talvolta rintracciabili in posizioni diverse. In questo caso il documento in questione, intitolato ÂŤZur Herausgabe eines Auschwitz-BuchesÂť, era presente nel faldone 256a (senza titolo). Si tratta di una copia di ds. in un unico foglio, solo recto, redatto in tedesco e firmato dallo stesso Langbein, in cui si riassume la vicenda editoriale dellâantologia e si rende nota lâuscita di Langbein dal Comitato Internazionale di Auschwitz.
[2] Dopo aver espulso Langbein, la nuova direzione dello IAK con sede a Varsavia aveva cercato di assumersi la responsabilitĂ del progetto editoriale Auschwitz. Zeugnisse und Berichte. A quel punto la casa editrice, impugnando la clausola della mancata apartiticitĂ dello IAK, aveva annullato il contratto e ne aveva fatto firmare uno nuovo ai tre curatori: oltre a Langbein, erano H.G. Adler e Ella Lingens-Reiner. Cfr. la Scheda relativa.
