Map

This map illustrates the entire epistolary network between Primo Levi and his German-speaking interlocutors, privileging the spatial perspective: a viewpoint over the European dimension of this debate by correspondence. However, the exchanges of letters took place in a Europe that had been divided in two by the Cold War; in order to identify the provenance of the letters, the ones written on the western side of the iron curtain are indicated in copper-colored lettering, whereas the ones written on the eastern side are in green. The four drop-down menus offer four possible reading paths that focus on the interlocutors involved (the sender or the recipient), the year the exchange took place, and, lastly, the language each letter was written in. Moreover, the research filters can be combined, using these specifics as a starting point for referencing the digital library.

From the map, the letters can be accessed by means of the links provided inside each pin.
