ich danke Ihnen herzlich für Ihre Zeilen vom 13. 1. und gratuliere Ihnen zu Ihrem ausgezeichneten Deutsch. Und besonders danke ich Ihnen natürlich dafür, dass Sie die beidenBücher suchen wollen.
Nunmehr ist unser Auschwitzbuch schon am Weg: Ich habe bereits die ersten umbrochenen Seiten im Abzug bekommen.
Das beiliegende Mitteilungsblatt[1] soll Sie über einiges informieren, was ich nun im Namen der österreichischen Lagergemeinschaft unternehmen kann.[2] Die beiden kommenden Auschwitz-Prozesse in Frankfurt und Wien zeichnen sich nun schon einigermassen ab.[3]

La ringrazio molto per le Sue righe del 13 gennaio e mi congratulo per il Suo eccellente tedesco. E, naturalmente, La ringrazio per la disponibilità a reperire i duelibri.
Il nostro volume su Auschwitz è in dirittura di arrivo: ho già ricevuto le prime bozze in pagina.
Il bollettino allegato[1] ha lo scopo di informarLa su alcune cose che posso fare per conto della Comunità Austriaca del Campo di Auschwitz.[2] I due prossimi processi di Auschwitz che si terranno a Francoforte e a Vienna iniziano a prendere forma.[3]

As of now, our Auschwitz book is on the way: I have just received the first unbound print copies.
The enclosed bulletin[1] is to inform you of some of the initiatives I can undertake in the name of the Austrian Concentration Camp Community.[2] Both of the upcoming Auschwitz trials in Frankfurt and Vienna are beginning to take shape.[3]

[2] Starting in 1961, Langbein was also general secretary of the Austrian Concentration Camp Community Auschwitz (ÖLGA), the association that brought together Austria’s former deportees.
[3] Langbein’s efforts to organize a major trial in Vienna against Austrian Nazi criminals encountered the obstructionism of judges and difficulties in tracking down witnesses. Only in 1972 were two trials held, one against Walter Dejaco and Fritz Karl Ertl (January 19 – March 10, 1972), and one against Otto Graf and Franz Wunsch (April 25 – June 27, 1972). In both cases, the defendants were acquitted. Regarding the trials against Nazi criminals cf. Insight.
