Nun ist die Buchbesprechung[1] erschienen und ich beeile mich, sie Ihnen zu schicken. Wie es so üblich ist, hat man zwar einiges sinnstörend geändert, und gekürzt, aber ich hoffe, dass insgesamt doch das zum Ausdruck kommt, was ich sagen wollte. Gerade gestern hat mir ein Auschwitzer, dem ich das Buch dringend empfohlen hatte, gesagt, dass er Ihr Buch für das beste Auschwitzbuch hält, das er kennt.
Ich habe es recht bedauert, dass wir uns in Milano nicht sehen konnten. Ich habe dort von Auschwitzbüchern erfahren und wäre Ihnen sehr dankbar, wenn Sie mir helfen könnten, dass ich diese bekomme. Ich bemühe mich sehr, möglichst alle Auschwitzbücher zu haben, damit ich diese bei meinen Arbeiten verwenden kann. Ich habe von folgenden Titel erfahren:

Come al solito si è intervenuti con tagli e modifiche a scapito del senso, ma spero che nel complesso sia chiaro quel che intendevo dire. Proprio ieri un sopravvissuto di Auschwitz, al quale avevo raccomandato il Suo libro, mi ha detto che lo riteneva il migliore sull’argomento.
Mi è dispiaciuto molto che non siamo riusciti a incontrarci a Milano. Lì sono venuto a conoscenza di alcuni libri su Auschwitz e Le sarei molto grato se mi aiutasse a procurarmeli: su Auschwitz sto davvero cercando di procurarmi tutti i libri che posso, per usarli poi nei miei lavori. Ecco i titoli:

The book review[1] is finally out, and I am eagerly sending you a copy. As so often happens, edits and cuts have twisted the meaning of a few passages, but I hope that, on the whole, what I intended to say still comes through. Just yesterday a fellow Auschwitz survivor I had recommended the book to said that he considers it the best book about Auschwitz he has ever read.
I really regret that we were not able to see each other in Milan. I heard about a few more Auschwitz books while I was there, and would be most grateful if you could help me find copies of them. I am making every effort to get my hands on every book about Auschwitz that I possibly can, so as to use them in my work. I have heard about the following titles:

Alberto Cavaliere, I campi della morte in Germania, Milan, Sonzogno, 1945.
